McKelvey had to be put down

And seetickets has too many people on it

It is always sad when a horse goes.

Agreed. If it was only the one- although one is too many -that's not too bad compared to previous years. Which is why I've always had a slight problem with the national, and why I wouldn't object if it were to be banned some time in the future.

I could be wrong, but I beleive that hurdles are more dangerous for the gee gees than the big fences, 'cos they are going at a greater lick. There's generally not too much carnage in the national is there?

True, but lots of horses die daily in races.  I just don't think (and I may be wrong) that these days the national is any more dangerous than many other races.  I'm not saying it's right btw.

Also, do they really have to shoot a horse with a broken leg? I find the general reasons fairly hard to believe-I'm betting it's purely a financial decision. I actually shed a tear when One Man was killed.

I'll join you. I'd have happily contributed to One man's fees.
