Off topic a bit but I would like to see Ribery at City.  In the bit of the match I watched he looked quite tasty.

Thinking that from the report on R5 this morning. He's at Bayern isn't he?

And doing very well there he is too. So no chance of City getting hold of him.

Bayern may be a bigger fish, but they swimming in a smaller pond. Much as I hate the Premier League and what it has turned our football into, it is the reason players like Ribery may want to sign for a club like City. He always comes in Football Manager anyway!

Bayern has ruined the Bundesliga. Ask anyone who follows it, aoart from a Bayern fan and they will confirm it. You are right though, many players go there to hide, but if they are of any worth will look to leave Bayern/the Bundesliga. the standard is SPL.

At least there is good news:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/internationals/7315971.stm

England striker Michael Owen insists David Beckham is good enough to carry on and add to his 100 England caps.

Beckham was replaced in the 63rd minute after a subdued display in Wednesday's 1-0 defeat by France in Paris.

"I think David can keep playing for England, he's still got the quality," Owen told BBC Sport.

"He's also still got the appetite to play for England and I think he showed enough to demonstrate that he can go on and win more caps."

Well, that stands to reason. If one has-been can keep his place in the squad then there's a place for Owen to!

Didn't I hear the commentators saying Capello thought Beckham could play a part for England up til the 2010 WC? Gone off this fella already.

Beckham - 100 and out, it will serve no purpose keeping him in the squad, we need to look at the 2010 world cup. Ribery - if he comes to the PL it will be to one of the big 4, we have no chance. Players like bentley, swp, lennon - young players with pace should be in the squads from now on, lets hope sturridge is given a chance at u21 level soon and see if he can stake a claim.

Didn't somebody say on here t'other day that McClown broke England? Not true. The Premier League broke England, with it's inflated wages and inflated ego's. Beckham getting his 100th cap epitomises whats wrong. He hasn't been worth his last 10-15 caps. Should not have come close to 100, yet all we hear is how he 'deserves' it. How the fuck can that be? You deserve it if you earn it. C**t.

Concurrance - I don't think it's a coincidence that the last time we reached the last four of a world cup was 1990 - the Summer before the 'Best League in the World' came about
