'Santos gift for Sven'

Sven Goran Eriksson is trying to sign Barcelona's brilliant young Mexican star Giovani Dos Santos for next season.

Dos Santos is represented by agent Pini Zahavi, who has strong links with City owner Thaksin Shinawatra and is now rated the 'chosen' wheele-dealer at City.

Zahavi also has been in contact with Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United about Dos Santos.

I think this is all media rubbish, but this kid is playing fairly regularly for the Barca first team. He looks like he could be amazing! Touted as having the potential to be as good as Messi and Ronaldinho.

...So why would he choose to come to us?

Just media trying to stir things up methinks.

Apologies for the duplicate thread... It would help if people put the subject of the thread in their 'subject' field when listing the thread...

Its hard enough trawling through thread names, let alone read all of them!

Why would he choose to come to us?   Same as anyone I suppose, he will have the future prospects sold to him, and his agent.  Shouldn't be difficult as Zahavi is already quite close to Frank.

All this could of couse be made up "media" invention, but we have definitely been in for him before, last summer I believe.  Don't be fooled into assuming everything in print is lies.  Journalists often are accurate.

Back to the original question, why would he want to come to us?  Where better for an 18 year old prospective superstar?  We don't just sign Championship standard journeymen you know.  Not now.

Its on SSN now too, He is a great potential talent and often talk in the same way as Goofey. Would be a great signing, got bags of skills.

Would Barca sell him though?

Manchester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson is lining up a £7m move for Barcelona's Mexican wonderkid Giovani Dos Santos. (Daily Mirror)

Barca wonderkid linked to City

The Mirror

"Mexican kid on Sven's list"

Sven-Goran Eriksson has made a move for Barcelona's £7million-rated Mexican wonderkid Giovani Dos Santos.

Manchester City boss Eriksson has used his connections with super-agent Pini Zahavi to try to broker a deal for the 19-year-old forward. Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon tried to sign Dos Santos in January but now City are discussing a permanent deal as well as a one-year loan with an option to buy.

Dos Santos' father Zizinho said: "There is interest from Manchester City. However, I cannot give more information now, as Giovani's agent is the one in charge of all this. I can't say for sure if Giovani will go to another team.

"We don't want to get ahead of ourselves, there is interest but first he has to concentrate on Barcelona."

Can't say i've seen him much but on the grapevine he does sound like a promising player. I think Arsenal bought Fabregas from Barca to as he had trouble breaking into their team, if he turns out to be anything like him i'd love him in the side.

Enough of the patronising. I know we have moved on from signing mediocre players, but are you really that naive to think that we have a chance of obtaining one of the most promising young players in world football from one of the most illustrious clubs in world football?

Where better for an 18 year old superstar? ... Barcelona? Why would he want to come to a country where he will get kicked off the park for being a playmaker, playing on sub-standard pitches that are not even fit for keeping pigs on.

Again, enough of the patronising, twat.
