Danny's Studs (16/03/2008)
Goal aisde I think he contributed little today, coughed the ball up alarmingly easy, and had he not have score he would have been worst on pitch.

I had this argument with TiD via text who thinks he's alright, I really dont know how he is holding on to his short right now.

concurrance - in fact, Sven was about thirty seconds away from subbing him yesterday when he scored - his distribution was kack and he ran around a lot but to little affect

He has a knack of scoring important goals though doesnt he? (Every goals important Danny, I know) Last minute Reading and this one to keep him on the pitch. Credit where it is due there but I still think he was poor.

Ireland played well yesterday.

We have a very young side and as such they will make mistakes and will be inconsistant from time to time, but they will come good. Can't think of any youngster I'd want to get rid of. We just need to add a bit more experience throughout the side and we'll be sorted.

Dont really think we can expect to much from ireland when he keeps getting played in the wrong position he's not a winger left or right. We seen in the derby what he's capable of when played centre mid. I dont think he played too well yesterday though.

bring back SWP!

The most thing that I like about Ireland is that he works hard in every single game he play in. I like his energy.

For me Stevie optimises the the old adage, 'meh'. Not too bothered about him either way. Frustrates the fuck out of me with his inability to play a 15 yard pass. Agreed, he plays 'killer balls' which are harder to play, but his overall distribution is shocking, Hence the groans from the crowd.

The simple things should be priority for him, interchanging the complicated stuff with Elano when necesssary, until he gets that right i'd like to see someone else get the same kind of preferential treatmant as him i.e. Etuhu, Gio, my gran etc...

Gelson gave the ball away carelessly at times, and Corluka made a shocking error of judgement for their goal, yet no one is suggesting they played badly. Quite the opposite in fact. Ireland won the ball a plenty in midfield, was always looking to receive the ball and to get forward. For me he was our best midfielder. I think some people have made up their minds about him, maybe because of his issues off the pitch,  and because of that only see the bad. There have been times when he's irritated me, when it seems like he couldn't care less, but I can't criticise him for Sundays performance. Far from it.

And on that note, I'd just like to say how well I thought Elano played as well. When I say well, I mean you have to put it in context with how he'd been playing recently. Maybe this is the wrong thread for this but, it just seems a good follow on from your post.

Yes, all right.. Christ Almighty! It's like walking down a corridor and answering the door in Nazi Germany!

I reckon he feels more confident when Johnno's playing.
