Benny (16/03/2008)
save me Jeebus (16/03/2008)
I admit he did do some good defensive work today and he did intercept quite a few passes. That was on the plus side, on the negative and as I said before, he did give the ball away cheaply. He tries these flicks and back-heels without looking to see if the player he's passing to is even there. A positive again was that he did try a lot more forward passes instead of the sideways ones that have been his staple lately. And one last negative... his hair.

C'mon, be fair, you can't buy hair like that. Or can you?

Anyway, I preferred how he had it against Utd, he could slice through the air like a knife through butter with a barnet like that.

He did.

Agreed. Aerodynamic. Could do with a little sharks fin on top to slice through the thick manchester mizzle, like a go faster stripe. Dont know what mizzle is, I just heard em say it on the weather.

That's exactly it. Set hair to aerodynamic, cut through the mizzle. I like the word mizzle by the way.

Castillo is for another thread, he was great today. Stevie, are we saying we shouldnt be on his back cos everyone else does and cos he's a good guy and wil leventually get there? People please, I think he has had all the time he could want to stamp his name on a position, I think winning a ball and then laying it off back to the oppo is the same as standing still. His distribution and passing are woeful. He's no kid now, really needs to sort it out.

I don't think anybody is saying that Danny. Personally, i think the criticism is unfair. Not that he should be exempt from it, i just don't see why he gets the bulk of it when he is doing alright.

And how can he be expected to stamp his name on a position if it is always being changed?

He IS still a kid, he's played all over the place, and he's clearly got some issues which he's trying to work out. He's had a couple of bad games, a couple of stormers (remember the derby?), and a few average ones. Booing him isn't going to help, he needs encouragement. I think Sven's handling him well tbh, he's clearly talented and will be in our squad for a good while yet (Benny prediction).

Probably cuz we're constantly told how he's the most naturally gifted player at the club who can do things with a ball that nobody else can, so we're waiting to be blown away by the things that he does and... well, it just doesn't happen does it?

Dont mistake this for me getting on his back cuz I'm not, I though he had one of his better games today.

haha sounds so funny... do things with a ball that nobody else can.

i think he is better, more talented and gifted then ronaldinho, messi, pele and maradona together... maybe

He did give the ball away sometimes in this game, but if some of you remember he made a pass that would have connected with Castillo in front of the net instead Benji accidentally thought the pass was for him and intercepted it. If it weren't for that this whole board would be talking about that pass and how it was beautiful and what not. The thing is that him and Elano are our creative midfielders that are called on to make some dangerous passes that could result in a big play or just turn the ball over. I agree that he has played like shit many times this year, but overall I feel he is a good player that will only improve and contribute to the squad.

obviously hes a good squad player but i think he should be working WITH elano and trying to match him so that then once elano leaves us for ac milan or who ever he decides to join . . . we will always have ireland to replace him very well
