Results today have put us in 8th place because of our poor goal difference. If we win on Monday we will not overtake Everton unless we win by 7 clear goals and we will still be behind Liverpool on Goal Difference. We need to average half a dozen wins with a goal difference of at least +2 or 3 per game if we are to have a shot at 4th or 5th by the end of the season. I would hate us to miss out on goal difference having come so near.

you do not mess with Jack Reacher

But, as has been said before, how often does it come down to goal difference? The chances are very slim. I know there's a lot of teams close together, so maybe it has more importance, but it's not a big concern to me to be honest.

It does come down to GD from time to time though. I wouldn't be surprised to see at least one team getting a better league position than us due to GD.

Three points against Everton is a must. Fail to beat them and we can probably kiss goodbye to any lingering hopes of fourth place.
