| Results today have put us in 8th place because of our poor goal difference. If we win on Monday we will not overtake Everton unless we win by 7 clear goals and we will still be behind Liverpool on Goal Difference. We need to average half a dozen wins with a goal difference of at least +2 or 3 per game if we are to have a shot at 4th or 5th by the end of the season. I would hate us to miss out on goal difference having come so near.

| But, as has been said before, how often does it come down to goal difference? The chances are very slim. I know there's a lot of teams close together, so maybe it has more importance, but it's not a big concern to me to be honest.

| It does come down to GD from time to time though. I wouldn't be surprised to see at least one team getting a better league position than us due to GD.
Three points against Everton is a must. Fail to beat them and we can probably kiss goodbye to any lingering hopes of fourth place.
