1) Sven Goran Eriksson has refused to admit defeat in Manchester City's battle to claim a UEFA Champions League place.

City were in the top four during the early part of the season, but have since fallen to seventh in the table.

However, they remain just three points behind fourth-placed Everton and, with a game at home to The Toffees coming up on Monday night, there is a chance that they could move back into a Champions League spot.

And while Eriksson knows it will be tough to break into the Premier League elite, he insists he welcomes that kind of pressure.

"It is a dream to play in the Champions League next season, of course it is, but it is a dream for Everton and other teams as well," he said.

"Playing in Europe would be extremely good, the Uefa Cup as well, so we are going to try to do it.

"There is pressure but that is good. It is not good to work with a football team when there is no pressure on yourself - the pressure should be there.

"It is up to us whether we want to play in Europe or not. The position we have now is good."

But he added: "I saw Everton on Thursday. They are playing good football, scoring six goals. It will be a very difficult game."

Consistency

Eriksson's men beat Manchester United at Old Trafford in their last game, and the former England boss is eager to see them repeat that kind of showing week in, week out.

"United was an extremely good performance from us. If we could play like that every week with the same spirit and attitude, it would be very good.

"If we thought the season is over we could pack up and go home, but I hope we are more clever than that.

"I know that all the players would like to play in Europe next season and to do that we need to finish the season in a very good way."

2)  Sven Goran Eriksson is still surprised that he was able to bring Benjani Mwaruwari to Manchester City.

Benjani's move to City from Portsmouth was eventually ratified after the close of the transfer window, with Eriksson having not expected to get the chance to sign the striker.

The Zimbabwean marked his debut with the decisive goal in the derby against Manchester United earlier this month and Eriksson remains delighted to have clinched the deal.

Eriksson said: "Of course I knew about him. You know if you work in the Premier League, if you follow top scorers.

Perfect player

"But to be honest, it was very late. I couldn't dream that he was available.

"Suddenly, I got a phone call 24 hours before it closed. Of course we took him because I thought that was what we needed, the perfect player for us.

"He is big, strong, scoring goals, with pace, good technique. It was a surprise for me, but I am very happy he is here."

The City boss also praised the way that Benjani has quickly settled in at the club and believes he is a player the team 'needed'.

Eriksson added: "It looks like he has been here for years. He was fantastic in training yesterday.

"I don't know how many goals he scored - I asked him and he didn't know. He is very good. I think he is a player we needed."

3) Sven Goran Eriksson says teenage striker Felipe Caicedo can be a big hit in English football.

The Ecuador striker, who made his Manchester City debut as a substitute in the derby victory over United, scored for the reserves in midweek.

And Eriksson believes the 19-year-old, who completed his move to Eastlands from Basel in January, is one for the future.

Very strong

The City boss told the club's official website: "Even though he has a little bit of international football under his belt it might take time before we see the real Felipe Caicedo.

"But you can see that he is a good player, he has a good left foot and is very strong.

"We'll give him some time and he will probably sit on the bench to jump in every now and then."

4) Manchester City hard luck story Valeri Bojonov has stated his desire to play for Italian giants Roma at some point in his career.

The Bulgarian has had a nightmare time at Eastlands since arriving for a fee thought to be around £5.75 million from Fiorentina in the summer.

Bojinov is now almost back to full fitness after damaging cruciate ligaments in his knee during City's 1-0 win in August's Manchester derby.

Although he is dedicated to doing well in England he will look forward to one day playing in Italy again, after spells at Lecce, Fiorentina and a loan deal at Juventus.

"Now that I am here I want to do well here but Italy is a door I left open because it's a country I have close ties with," said Bojinov.

"I don't want to talk about Serie A in terms of my past, but rather a possible future chapter."

If the chance arises to move back to Italy, Bojinov is under no illusions about which club he would love to join.

"I have a dream for when my adventure at Manchester City ends and that is to play for Roma," he added.

"During the sad period just after my knee operation I lived there and it was an extraordinary city full of spendid people.

"There is passion, there is a chaos and there is an amazing atmosphere that I love. To play for Roma would be the best.

"I have spoken to Marco Cassetti and Mirko Vucinic and they were enchanted by Roma too.

"How can you see a team with Francesco Totti, Amantino Mancini, Ludivic Giuly and Daniele De Rossi and not want to play for them?"

1) CL spot isnt out of reach so why not?

2) Good buy at that price and seems to be on fire in training, and scored a goal against scum

3) Yeah scored his first goal, thats great news for a promising player with a big price tag. Looks big and strong and hopefully has that south american magic.

4) Yeah if he wants, but not for the next few years.
