So now that the Spuds ruined everything by winning the Carling Cup, we have to hope that the FA Cup finalists are both from the top 6 in order for 7th place to garner a UEFA spot.

7th has gone unless spurs win the uefa.

If it's not a chelsea v utd final 6th place goes aswell.

So that would just leave 5th place for uefa through the league

6th place never goes. 6th is a definite UEFA place that never changes. If Spurs get into the top 6 which is unlikely, then there's an extra place cos they will occupy 2. Its the finalists of the FA Cup im sure it is(it is on football manager). I dont think its just the winner.So im pretty sure that if United or Chelsea get into the final then theres another place available.

I don't think that's right. There's three teams get in. one from the league, the carling cup winners and the losing FA cup finalists. In recent seasons its been 5th, 6th and 7th in the league because of the dominance of the top four in the cup competitions. However, all hope may not yet be lost:

"England could potentially send five teams to Europe’s second-tier club competition next year. If Tottenham beats Chelsea in the Carling Cup final on the 24th, Spurs would clinch the automatic UEFA Cup berth that comes with it, but that would also take away a spot from another team. Three teams (5-7) usually qualify for the UEFA Cup through their final league position; the 5th place team is guaranteed and the 6th and 7th place teams get in as long as both of the FA Cup finalists and the Carling Cup winner have qualified for Europe already, which has been the case in recent years. Another team could go through if they take care of business in the Intertoto Cup during the summer. One more team could now go if England gets that Fair Play spot."

Does anyone know who's applied for Intertoto? As I understand it you don't apply beforehand the place goes to the team below them, but I can't find a list anywhere of who's applied.
