| | You may or may not be aware of my recent rants about how crap this place is, however I decided to give it another chance last weekend and went to a gig there, hoping to be pleasantly suprised. Well ok, I'll give it it's dues the sound quality is excellent and the layout of the place is good. However, queueing for 20 minutes for a can of warm Carling and then paying £3 for the privilege did not stand the place in good stead for a positive rating. Then, horror of all horrors, it is now non-smoking throughout, not even in the bar area... ...well fuck that, fuck that and fuck that again. How very rock and roll! Never again! (By the way, I have not written this thread to start yet another smoking debate)

| I thought you loved the Apollo! At least you weren't at the MEN. The last time I was there it was draughty.
Who did you go to see?

| I think the apollo is a brilliant venue. If you don't wany to queue for beer then go somewhere first for a drink, non-smoking makes it an even better place for me . As you say, the sound there is good which is really all that matters! I think a 3000 capacity venue generates one of the best indoor atmospheres you can get. IMO |

| You can smoke outside you know.
At the moment anyway.
Avoid, rather than check. Check, rather than hurt. Hurt, rather than maim. Maim, rather than kill. For all life is precious, nor can any be replaced. |

| Sco (14/11/2006) I was in standing on Saturday and there were people smoking all around, despite the large no smoking signs.I was there on Saturday too and noticed a couple of people having cigs in the audience, but refrained from smoking in there becuase of the rules. Although I think maybe they could make a section of one of the bars a smoking area, even if it's just until the ban comes in and we're all better prepared for it.
