| I see that player whose jaw was broken by a totally unprovoked left hook in the FA Cup has decided to press charges... Along with yet another report of coin throwing - why has that suddenly taken off as a trend again? Surely even the most moronic of morons can fathom it's not the brightest thing to do and won't benefit anyone, least of all themselves or their club? Apparently Newport will be in a big financial mess after the likely fine after their match. Bristol Rovers striker Sean Rigg has revealed he is to press charges against James Cotterill after he was left with a suspected double fracture of the jaw following a clash with the Barrow player. The Conference North minnows went down 3-2 in a thrilling FA Cup first round tie to Paul Trollope's League Two side on Saturday but the match was marred by an off-the-ball incident - missed by the match officials at Holker Street - that left youngster Rigg clutching his face. Barrow have since issued a statement apologising for the incident but Rigg insists he wants to make it a matter for Cumbria Police. Meanwhile, Cumbria police are also investigating a second incident in which a fan is alleged to have thrown a coin at Rovers goalkeeper Steve Phillips.

| | On the broken jaw thing. I'd sue the bastard too. The coin throwing... i'm not sure if its a trend that started again or its never gone away and its just that the media have decided to report every incedent. I really dont know.

| That's true, there's always been sporadic incidents of things being thrown, and I suppose we can't know whether we are now hearing about a greater proportion of them, or if it is just idiots following the lead of their fellow idiots. Or maybe they're just getting to be a better aim and more of the missiles are hitting their targets

There does seem to be more finding the target just lately. Maybe thats it? practice makes perfect. It is a moronic thing to do though. But then i'm never surprised about how stupid your average football fan/thug is. To realise how stupid it is would mean you'd have to think, and thinking isn't some peoples strong point.

I read that people who were at the game said the bloke who was throwing coins at the Newport game had been drinking all day and was throwing them throughout the game (must have a fair bit of disposable income), so perhaps it's just law of averages?
