Charlton have announced they have parted company with manager Iain Dowie.

Dowie only took over from Alan Curbishley at the Valley in May but has won just two Barclays Premiership games out of 12 this season, leaving the club bottom of the table.

The former Crystal Palace boss did lead the Addicks to the Carling Cup quarter-final this week but it was not enough to save his job after Saturday's league defeat at Wigan.

Charlton have said they will issue a further statement on Tuesday morning.

Dowie took up the reins at the Valley in controversial circumstances after

leaving London rivals Palace.

He was involved in a high profile fall-out with Eagles chairman Simon Jordan,

who claimed Dowie misled him about his reasons for quitting Selhurst Park.

Dowie had a compensation clause in his contract which meant if he left for

another club, they would then have to pay Palace £1million.

However, Jordan agreed to waive the clause - and this prompted the Palace

chairman to take action for "fraudulent statements about his reasons for

leaving the club''.

In a sensational move, Jordan employed someone to issue Dowie with a writ at the press conference in which he was unveiled as Charlton boss.

The allegations were denied by Dowie, who was promised Charlton's full backing for a court case on the dispute that is due to he heard next summer.

How Dowie's departure will affect that case remains to be seen.

Wouldn't rule that one out actually.

Stranger things have happened. Especially at sea.

Maybe now the newspapers will stop getting their knickers in a bunch over who will be the first premiership manager to get the sack. I was sick of seeing Pearce as the odds on favorite.

It won't happen. Curbs has already ruled it out as not being goo for him.

I think it is a tad ridiculous that he has been sacked already. Charlton have had a major culture shock after having Curbs for so long they just havn't re-adjusted properly. This won't help - idiots!

It also opens up the door for others to be sacked now, as the burden of first to go and all that is now off

some people just don't learn - what good is it sacking the manager 15 games into the season? they had a long list of injuries and had half a team that needed to gel

now they've got no money for new players and no manager and the same bunch of players that are currently doing so well - wouldn't surprise me if Bent was off in Jan

I understand his anger and desire for compensation as Dowie had a clause in his contract and all that, but does Simon Jordan really have to show himself up with such a classless rant?  Ironic that he accuses Dowie of 'having a big mouth'.  His claim that he gave Dowie his big break when he was at Oldham also makes me laugh - surely then it was Oldham that did that and should take any credit going?  Whatever the rights and wrongs of the situation, I am firmly on the side of Dowie in this, and want to see the smugness wiped off Jordan's face.

EXCLUSIVE: I'LL GET YOU BIG MOUTH
Simon Jordan
THE MOST AMAZING ATTACK YOU'LL EVER READ
By James Nursey

CRYSTAL PALACE chairman Simon Jordan last night launched an astonishing attack on "big mouth" Iain Dowie - promising no sympathy even though he has now been sacked by Charlton.

Jordan, 39 (right), is taking the former Palace boss to court after releasing him in May to let him work nearer his family home in Bolton - only for Dowie to walk into The Valley a week later.

And Jordan has now vowed to file a new law suit against Charlton after they avoided paying a £1m compensation clause in Dowie's contract.

Dowie, 41, is out of work and has lost the Premiership club's financial support after being axed last week just 15 games into the season.

But Jordan said: "I am not going to let it go - I don't care if he is unemployed.

"Iain is a big man with a big mouth with plenty to say for himself and he can make the decisions he wants and take the consequences.

"If he wanted to go then fine, but don't sit in front of me at a f*****g press conference and have the balls to tell me that he wanted to move up north.

"I gave him his chance and his break when he was at Oldham and deserved a bit of f*****g respect.

"Iain Dowie wouldn't have got anywhere if it wasn't for me, but maybe we are better off without him.

"He couldn't keep my team in
