| | How many times were we linked with him? Middlesbrough may have to pay a further £2m for striker Afonso Alves because of a legal challenge from Dutch club AZ Alkmaar. (Mail)

| I got the feeling he will be a flop, especially in a team like Boro. Way too overpriced and hyped.

| I wouldn't mind him getting one on his debut tomorrow against Newcastle. Just to add to their woes.

| | When i first heard of this transfer i was gutted cos i thought he would be perfect for us,Just what we need,But i've now changed my mind.I saw him the other day at the riverside watching Boro,In an almost empty stadium in the shithole that is Middlesbrough,Why the hell would he want to play there if he has any ambition? Also many players have been scoring machines in the Dutch Eredivisie,Then they move to England and they struggle big time,So now i feel he is no big thing.Am i right in saying he came from Heerenveen? The same club as Samaras?Nuff said. |

| Dutch football is pretty dire stuff (a couple of clubs and the national team excepted) quite why anyone should be impressed by anyone's record in that league is beyond me.

| Bluecore (02/02/2008) Dutch football is pretty dire stuff (a couple of clubs and the national team excepted) quite why anyone should be impressed by anyone's record in that league is beyond me.Because he scored something like 7 goals in one game. Sure, that points to a lack of quality of opposition, but that's still mightily impressive
