sign a mexican who gets crippled in 2 games and an ecuadorian striker. oh and the mancini child on loan for 6 months. that's actually quite a lot of business all told, and a couple of cock ups yes, but hopefully the MP's complaingin about not giving Nashat a work permit will be successful. think he was given a contract because it was recognised that others would be after him. u can't do much when the thai money is still in the freezer

| avoidconfusion (01/02/2008) Well to be honest it seemed like Benjani was a panic buy anyway...Nah, sure he might not have been top of the list but i don't think he thought "shit, haven't signed anyone, we'll just sign Benjani" Not at all

| | Unfortunately, the more I think about this matter, the more I believe City deliberately passed over on this. Imagine this scenario:- The FA, in their attempts to reconcile who did what, prior to midnight in connexion with fax and telephone messages, decide to use some commonsense. They ask Peter Storrie at Portsmouth the question - "Would you be happy to see the transfer go ahead?" He will doubtless say YES. We believed that the funds to finance the signing of Defoe would come from the sale proceeds of Benjani, or words to that effect and now their books are out of pocket and in the red. They ask Benji the same question. I haven't the remotest what his answer might be but would preume that he travelled to Manchester with the prospect of agreeing a deal having joined a club that is going places, and, therefore, he is more likely to say YES. They then ask someone at Manchester City, presumably Mackintosh. What will determine the FA's decision on this one will be the response they receive from this third question. I have to say the rather terse notice on the club website dosen't sound as if they seem that bothered. However, I may be wrong. |

I think if it doesn't go through it'll be our decision.
