| | Hit show Gladiators is being brought back on television, eight years after it was axed by ITV. The hit combat show is being relaunched on Sky and members of the public are being sought to do battle with a new team of telly warriors. Auditions for willing - and fit - contestants are being held across the UK next month. Meanwhile, football legend Ian Wright is rumoured to be the new host and referee John Anderson, who became famous for his catchphrase "Gladiators, ready", is also in talks to rejoin the show. 'Travelator' back on track It's then hoped the revamped series will then return to its prime-time Saturday night slot. Producers are also apparently auditioning for 12 new Gladiators to replace old favourites including Lightning, Saracen and Wolf and are giving the show a "21st Century makeover". However, the challenges will still be based around an obstacle course which will include old favourite rounds such as the Eliminator, including the infamous Travelator. The relaunch follows the successful return of the US version, American Gladiator. this show was the last decent Saturday night offering, used to love watching gladiators and Noels House party. Hope it will be a success and they dont tinker with it to much. |
