we'll see - he's had one decent half a season

After seeing Vas last night I wouldn't begrudge Sven a panic buy.

If Iwas Sven after watching Vas last night - I'd be fecking panicking

Lets see;

Panicbuy - money spent on unguranteed quality, fans happy to see new face

No buys - save money, disgruntled fans

I'll go with the former.

I know what you're saying but I don't think there is such thing as a guaranteed quality buy. Look at Shevchenko.
I'd certainly be delighted with benjani though. As would Benny who could go through yet another name change.

That prospect hadn't occured to me.  Hmmm, may have to do one for the day...

Rumour has it that Pompey may be lining up Kanoute to replace Benjani. But you know what rumours are.

Oh and do it, Benny.

I'd go with Benijani, Benny. Drop Benin. They are history.

this rumour:

1308: "I'm a taxi driver down here in the south, and I've just given Freddie Kanoute a lift from Bournemouth airport to the Pompey training ground."
Grzegorz24 on 606  ???

I saw an interview with Kanoute not too long ago, it didn't seem like he wanted to come back to the Premier League

City close on Benjani deal

Portsmouth striker to make shock Eastlands switch

Last updated: 31st January 2008

City close on Benjani deal

Redknapp: Ready to sell Benjani

Sky Sports News understands Benjani Mwaruwari is close to completing a shock move to Manchester City.

The news is likely to dismay the Fratton Park faithful, who have seen the Portsmouth striker finally fulfil his potential on the south coast this season in scoring 12 league goals.

Benjani tops the club's scoring charts and on Wednesday evening his manager Harry Redknapp issued praise in the Zimbabwean's direction, following Portsmouth's defeat at Manchester United.

Portsmouth are already desperately short of firepower having lost David Nugent and Nwankwo Kanu to injury.

Redknapp has moved to compensate for this shortfall by bringing in Milan Baros from Lyon in a loan deal but the move will still surprise many.

City swoop

City are short of strikers themselves, with Rolando Bianchi having ended a short and less than glorious stint in Manchester by returning to Italy via a loan switch to Lazio.

It has also been reported that Ecuador international Felipe Caicedo of Swiss side Basel remains a target.

If Benjani does indeed complete a move to City then it will only increase speculation of Portsmouth making signings of their own, with Jermain Defoe mooted as a realistic target
