| | well shit, i should care about not getting benjani, but in all honesty... i couldn't give a fuck. He's scored a few this season, but he has also looked, well, lucky for a few of them. Previous goalscoring record isn't dazzling either. Would've been nice to have someone who has been shown to score goals in the prem but we have one lad who's scored 2 in 2 games, another striker coming back from injury and a promising 19 year old we just signed. It's looking better than it was at the start of january, with the possible exception of letting Bianchi go. Everyone has forgotten sven saying this season was for rebuilding and assembling a team, and has gotten carried away with challenging for europe. We haven't the squad for that yet. Next season we can have expectations, this season is a work in progress. |

| I'll swallow my previous few nigths drunken words, in truth we have overperformed for this season, so suddenly everyones' expectations are inflated. Fact is if we finish 10th or above, result. This is Sven's first 6 months to date, next we shoudl expect better again. Nothing is fucked here. *still crosses fingers and prays for 7th or higher*

| | Benjani would have been Ok until the end of the season but wasn't a long term solution. On the bright side - Sven is still on plan to deliver a top half finish. We have Sturridge - who cost us nothing or next to nothing. We have a host of young talent coming through and coming in. We might all get frustrated at the poor form ( and lack of signings), but not one of us could say we haven't moved on from last season and everone would have taken 6th in Prem going into Feb. We might have to put up with a few bad games/results between now and May (and have a rant or two at Sven and the team) - but Sven is far from finished. On reflection I have had a go at him and the players but in reallity and clarity of a Friday, I'm pretty happy with where we are and how we play. (Obviously we are all allowed to rant on a Sunday and Monday after games)

| | I'm gutted we didn't get him, but if he was late getting into Manchester, part of me wonders whether his heart was in the move or not. Would he have worn the blue shirt with pride? Caciedo, I haven't seen play, heard of or anything, but his first game is against the scum... How smug would we feel if he popped up in the 97th minute to put a goal in, after the ref gives 10 mins injury time due to United not winning? It'd be great! As for Sturridge... Fuckin do! Love the guy. Think he's an attacking form of Richards (a Starlet in the making!!!!)

I agree about the Sturridge - Richards comparison. I seem to recall that when we first started playing Micah on a regular basis some people felt uneasy that we were relying on someone so young, now look at him. Sometimes it's worth taking a gamble and Sturridge may just be one of those.

| So, we never got him then. Why did we not just sign him last week, instead of rushing about at the last minute.
Someone get a message through to Captain Snort That they better start assembling the boys from the fort. And keep Mrs. Honeyman right out of sight, 'Cos there's gonna be riot down in Trumpton Tonight. |

| badly drawn bassman (01/02/2008) So, we never got him then. Why did we not just sign him last week, instead of rushing about at the last minute.Because then we wouldn't of been City, we'd of been a well organised club. The deal hinged on Defoe going to Pompey, and a rumour I heard is that Defoe signed at half 1 this morning. If this is so, why couldn't Benjani come to us? Another rumour was the medical started at 11:25... Hardly enough time to rush a dump out before midnight!
