Leeds United have agreed to let manager Dennis Wise join Newcastle in an as yet unspecified role.

Wise, 41, will join the club on Tuesday and will work under Kevin Keegan, who returned for a second spell as Magpies manager earlier this month.

A club statement said: "We have agreed a compensation package with Newcastle for the services of Dennis Wise.

"He will part with the club on Tuesday after completing preparations for the game at Southend on Tuesday."

The statement added: "Newcastle had approached us for permission to speak with Dennis on Friday and since then things have happened very quickly."

Newcastle great Alan Shearer held talks with Keegan last week but has made it clear he will not return to St James' Park as his number two.

Wise to takeover once Keggy has things sorted out? He's done well with Leeds.

As for Shearer, he's full of shit.

Thank fook for Newcastle without whom we would still be vying for "most hapless club" award.

Nobody actually knows what Wise is going to do, let alone Keegan. He looked absolutely bemused at the press conference.

It'll all end in tears I tell thee.

It really is getting sureal up there isn't it?

Keegan "Can I have a 100 million to spend please"

Ashley "Here's Dennis Wise instead. He's director of football, paid £1.5m a year and will work out of London be responsible for transfers and the youth team."

WTF!

Leeds haven't been the same side since they lost Poyet to Spurs. I suspect a lot of Leeds fans are more bemused than upset over the loss of Wise. The smart money says the McAlister will take over.

He's not going even as that, he's to be an 'Executive Director' whatever the fuck one of those is.

Bizarre. I thought that meant opening doors and serving drinks on match days. Corporate hospitality. Usually a token roll for ex-players.
