| Magic Mike (26/01/2008) Eriksson said: "Maybe we will get one more player. But there is only one week left until the deadline. We're working on it. The phone has been red-hot.
One more, we only want one more!
Tell us who he is calling Mike...
I will hold my hand up and say it isn't me.

| | Im not sure but I know he won't just buy for the sake of it. He would rather wait untill the summer and get the top class players he wants. Re Beer: Thaskin has said he will back him all the way whoever he wants, so stop going on about him having no cash. |

| I say Hassan Abbas and one more. The problem with Thaksin as it seems to me is not the amount of money he has .It's the amount he's willing to spend and it looks like he's more interested in the PPP politics for the moment. I don't think he'll let Sven buy a player for more then the money he got for Bianchi. Someone needs to convince him that he'll get it back if City reaches the UEFA cup. It's a lot of money involved in the games and also TV,sponsorship deals etc.

| | Agree completely, add to this thaskins 3 year plan or whatever and the fact that we have exceeded expectations thus far, he may be willing to spend big over the summer to aim higher next season Edit: agreeing with Magic Mike's post

| We might have to wait until the summer, but the signs are good...Sven Goran Eriksson last night told Manchester City fans: We will be a Champions League club within the next three years. The City boss is convinced that is where he can take the club following talks last week with owner Thaksin Shinawatra on future spending plans. Eriksson was bowled over by the level of investment being planned by the Thai owner to give the Swedish coach the funds and firepower to turn the Blues into a regular top-four side. Eriksson was reassured that massive transfer funds will be available in the summer allaying fans' fears that the former England coach might be a target for top Italian clubs if promises by Shinawatra on cash aren't met. The City boss opened his heart to a group of well-heeled supporters at a lunch to celebrate his first six months in charge at Eastlands. And punters were left excited by the message being relayed by Eriksson. Said the Swede: "I have had a meeting with Dr Thaksin and I promise you the plans they have for this club... well, I had to sit down I was so surprised. "They were much bigger than even I thought they might be but it is fantastic and in three years I am sure we will be a Champions League club, I have no doubts about that." With City so far only signing Mexican striker Nery Castillo on a loan deal the proposed glut of big-money transfers has failed to materialise although Eriksson is hopeful of adding an attacking midfielder and another striker before the window closes next week. That's worried some fans who know the Swede's performance in turning City around is attracting growing interest around Europe. But Eriksson said: "The owners are ambitious and like me they want to see the club in Europe. "We have done well in such a short time and whenever it is that I leave City I hope the fans will say I did a good job, that is the most important thing. And I hope we can fill our trophy room." Eriksson did admit he's got his eye on another job, confessing it is his dream to one day manage his country. "Yes, I hope to manage Sweden one day maybe and that would be a great honour for me. "They have a good manager in Lars Lagerback so they don't need me. Sweden have qualified for all major tournaments since 1992, which is a great achievement."
