Its more than just a striker, its the way we play one up front, thats fine when Elano is on his game, but he hasnt been the same since he came back. Hopefully its just a blip.

PODOLSKI COULD MAKE LOAN MOVE

Bayern Munich striker Lukas Podolski, who has been linked with a move to Manchester City, could be allowed out on loan by the German club.

Bayern general manager Uli Hoeness is considering sending Podolski out on loan as he has found it hard to break into the first team this season.

Bayern claim the Germany international, who incoming boss Jurgen Klinsmann is keen to have in his squad next season, is not for sale, but a loan move in the transfer window still seems possible.

Hoeness told Kicker magazine: "We have got to talk about what we are going to do. I am torn."

He added: "I want to help him to make it to the Europeans Championships. And if we loan him out and everything goes well, we have done everything right.

"Then we have got him games and he comes back on July 1."

Podolski is competing for a starting place with the likes of Miroslav Klose and Luca Toni, but the Bundesliga club insist a permanent transfer is not on the cards.

Hoeness said: "A club like Bayern Munich needs four top strikers."

I'd be interested to see how Podolski fit in to the team and a loan would appear to be the ideal way of doing that. I'd still like to see City signing more of a target man though. Someone more like Torres.

Look's like he's coming sven want's him, he wants football. If we can get him on loan this week, we have to be really happy with it.

Then we can get the striker we really want in the summer, instead of shelling out £10-£15m on a striker we really don't want now.

I'd agree with that. I always think January is better for loan deals. I know it doesn't really improve the squad in the long run but real quality players don't seem to be available/cost over the odds in Jan.

Not that I wanted him, but it sort of makes Anelka's move to Chelsea for £15m a good bit of business on their part.

Podolski breaks leg after 5 minutes of debut.

Thought I'd be the first is all.

Avoid, rather than check. Check, rather than hurt. Hurt, rather than maim. Maim, rather than kill. For all life is precious, nor can any be replaced.

The good thing though if we got him on loan is that if he helps us get Europe then, its easier to attract other strikers in the summer.
