Stuart Pearce has hinted that youth may well be given a chance as the Blues look to build on a return of four points from four games.
At this morning’s Carrington press conference, the Manager said of the current set-up: “It might give the likes of Daniel Sturridge a chance. We’ve had him around the squad and he travelled with us to Reading and you just never know there might be a place available for him.”
Despite strengthening his squad with eight new players over the summer, Pearce still feels it’s a case of playing whoever he feels is up to the task, regardless of age.
He added: “I think there’s an opportunity at this club at the moment for the young players.
“There’s not a vast amount of players in their way and they’ll feel if they get a little run going they might have an opportunity of breaking through.
“Ishmael Miller is an example of that. He’s been around the first team squad and got on the pitch again on Monday night. So that’s valuable experience for him.
“I think it’s important with the youngsters that you don’t pitch them in to situations where it’s going to be detrimental to their development.”

Not really sure how to greet this news. I'll be happy to see what Sturridge has to offer.Though I always like to see players have a go against their former clubs and I'm sure Dickov will be up for it.Maybe it will be a short outing for the lad if he gets on a chance.
At the same time does this mean that we have already lost faith in our current strike options???
