| | So Samaras is off to Brum, Casillo out for 6 weeks, Bojinov due back soon but will take time to settle in and up to speed, MPenza out until mid Feb at the earliest. So that realistically leaves us with Bianchi who is also rumoured to be off, Vassell and Sturridge who is just back from long term injury and not proven at this level. IMO, it's now not just a case of wanting a top class striker, it's now a matter of fucking urgency.

I think he's right to let Samaras go because he wouldn't have particularly improved our situation up front. I trust Sven. It's probably aswell Castillo got injured now and not at the end of the transfer window, at least Sven can consider his options and possibly bring somebody in. As we all know, wanting a player and actually getting him to sign is not easy, particularly in January. I'm sure we are on the case. |

You get the impression that Sven really wanted to see Sturridge play on Tuesday and was a bit pissed that the game was called off. Probably wanted to have a look before reviewing his transfer targets. That aside I think the Castillo injury will force Sven's hand.

| Timpblue (18/01/2008) could be forced into a big bid for crouch ?You could be right Timps. I am not a fan of his but he may score quite a few if Petrov carries on supplying crosses like he is. |

| I don't think us selling Samaras changes much, but the injuries to other strikers does mean we need to bring someone else in IMO. The Podolski rumours are still flying, even though Bayern have said he isn't for sale. Read somewhere today that a £16 million bid might be offered. We've also been linked to that Real Mallorca striker and Whojamaflip Zigic.
you know, you know, if a feller named Monroe never fathered bluegrass he would still be unrecognised as the grand wizard of speed metal
