Mike said lastnight daniel van buyten to newcastle, watch this space!

don't care about Newcastle, I want to hear about someone signing for us and then tomorrow he'll be having his medical and then we win the league

We did go for Podolski and like I said a week ago Klinsmann would probley put a stop to the move, and thats what happened.

Diarra- wanted 60,000 a week and guarenteed 1st team football. Sven didn't agree with it.

So that's who we're not signing. Who are the other "irons in the fire"?

Modric want's to come, it's the club that won't part with him. They want a bidding war for him in the summer.

Over the last few days, Svens comments to the media and on the OS regarding new signings has become not so much negative, but guarded. Sort of a 'let them down gently' approach.

I still stand by my thoughts that Sven has little or no money available to him.

So the big buy out with mega dosh to spend was £40 mil???

£5.8mil plus the £25 mil TV revenue, puts us at a 10 million investment, plus whatever it costs for Sven...

That's pretty shit.

Plus if we blew another 40-50m In the window, we will end up paying chelsea prices in the summer, when trying to bolster our squad for Europe!!

Bert Trautmanns neck brace (17/01/2008)
From the little we saw last night I thought that he wasnot used to the speed of the game.          He seemed to want more time on the ball which he won't get in this league

and his touch, control and passing were poor... how much of that is down to a lack of familiarity with the prem and how much is down to playing in turkey and the ukraine? unfair perhaps, and i would rather be proven wrong than right, but i don't have a good feeling about him.

edit to say i hope it is just down to him being unfit. maybe th elay off with his shoulder will give him some time to adapt and watch the game... how much does a dislocation keep you from training? guessing pretty much completely until 4 weeks of recovering?

He never played in Turkey. It was Greece.

It's a bit silly to blame to the level of opposition for him doing so well aborad, when you consider how he embarassed Brazil on his own and how he played in the Champions League.

Compare how good he looks with how good Elano looks when he's not fit either. No difference.

No matter who the player is, if they aren't fit...it shows big time.

Add that to the fact that he is playing in a country where he doesn't speak the language and in a league which is probably the fastest and most physical league out there, it's ludicrous to expect him to come over and set the league on fire, after only playing a handful of games in minus 20 degree weather over the last 5 months.

He just needs time.....as does Bojinov and Studge when they come back.

Heres what you putESM

Well, from what I've seen of him thus far, I have to say that he seems..............how can I put it..................shit.

Harsh?

Correct, but I said 'thus far'. I haven't seen anything yet that makes me think different, that's not to say he won't turn out to be a little star. Obviously the injury will set him back a bit, but do you think Sven would have kept selecting him. Harsh thing to say, but we didn't look an attacking threat until he went off and Rolando came on.

The reason vassell and castillo looked shite was because of stupid long balls to them head high. Them two needed slick balls inbehind on the deck, elano was playing far too deep to do that in the first half, castillo ended up coming far too deep for balls and was hit hard everytime, the lad needed space to run into.

You mean Vassell isn't ordinarily shite?
