If you don't "get" the Flaming Lips it's cos you haven't seen them live.

This was amongst the best gigs I've ever been to and that despite this being probably the worst venue known to man. Completely soulless shed with catering/bars that make the CoMS look like paradise.

Wayne Coyne arrived in a huge plastic bubble and surfed the crowd for the opening number but not in a rock god kind of way but just for a laugh. The stage was packed with Santas and Santaresses all waving high power torches at the crowd. About 100 huge orange balloons were bouncing around the crowd so for ages you only got glimpses of the band through them and a sea of smoke, ticker tape and that floaty confetti stuff. A massive screen behind showed superb graphics through the show.

The sound was fantastic and the band were as tight as a drum and clearly having a ball.

Just a superb gig and even the encore of Bohemian Rhapsody done in the Lips own style went down a storm.

Avoid, rather than check. Check, rather than hurt. Hurt, rather than maim. Maim, rather than kill. For all life is precious, nor can any be replaced.

Was it loud enough for you?

you know, you know, if a feller named Monroe never fathered bluegrass
he would still be unrecognised as the grand wizard of speed metal
