They're eleventh ffs. Not like they're close to the bottom of the league. To sack him on the eve of the game against Manyoo and right in the middle of the transfer window when a manager is at his busiest is crazy. How is the new guy going to have any time to do anything. Newcastle could go in to freefall now.

Exactly, and who's around? I guess it's pretty much definitely going to be Shearer, so they sack a proven premiership manager for someone who has never held any sort of role at a club other than player. At exactly the wrong time as Emigre says. Totally numpty decision.
