| | Manchester City have joined the chase for Dimitar Berbatov after United boss Alex Ferguson claimed he will not buy new players in the transfer window. The Blues are ready to rest the resolve of Tottenham with a bid and utilise the striker's close friendship with their left-side midfielder Martin Petrov, who is a Bulgaria team-mate, reports The Sun. Spurs have slapped a £31million price tag on the 26-year-old forward in a bid to ward off any offers (daily Mail)

| | Obviously Berbatov would be a fine acquisition. One drawback is his Ibrahimovic/Anelka style sulkiness. Saw the Espanyol vs Villarreal match on Sky last night (FT 3 -0). The centre fwd for Espanyol, Raul Tamudo played a blinder and scored twice. If anybody gets an opportunity to see the replay today, I'd take a close look at this guy. He's be the perfect replacement for Vassell. |

Exactly.
As someone else mentioned, he is a bit too whiny like Ibra. He is a great goalscorer no doubt, but I don't know if he would instantly start bagging goals for City though. Hmm. I am not sure he would fit in. But then again, Sven does what Sven thinks is best

Exactly.

| | not for me. not sure who our top wage earner is but he will blast the ceiling on that. i want to go back to last summer when we didnt know of the signing before and in some cases after they where signed - and then they turn out to be gems. press just want to second guess Sven now so are trying to link him with everyone. the fact that Berbatov has a friend at city means the link will always be made. |
