Do we know for sure he was being abused? and I dont mean by the rough end of a pineapple. I mean verbally by the people who he had a hissy-fit on. I keep hearing how he has all this to put up with every day, and "what would you do if someone was slagging off your family"? But I'm not even sure if this is the case. More like Barton's just a mental case.

I've not actually paid too much attention to this but from what Sky have reported everyone seems to agree with it started with some Everton fans who started abusing him about not joining Everton and also about his murdering brother.  I don't know if this is right or wrong but i do find it hard to believe that Joey would be stupid enough to walk over to some random strangers and start beating them.  I think the guy has serious mental problems and these taunts made him snap.  I think he needs to have some sort of serious therapy to sort himself out.

I would suggest he doesn't go out on the piss in Liverpool town centre.  If (and it looks to be the case) he can't control his anger he ought to try not to put himself in those kind of situations.  When he's 35 he'll have untold millions (or would have) and can go out where he likes and do pretty much what he likes.

City fans are born, not manufactured...
we do not choose, we are chosen...
those that understand, need no explanation...
those that dont understand, dont matter...

Joey Barton may now have been bailed from jail - but he will not be getting close to the Newcastle squad in the near future. (The Guardian)

Avoid, rather than check. Check, rather than hurt. Hurt, rather than maim. Maim, rather than kill. For all life is precious, nor can any be replaced.
