To clarify: my mate has offered to take me and Mrs O'Reyna so the tickets aren't mine to sell. I don't really know Snow Patrol much but I thought it might be a worth a look as it's free. I see that Elbow are the support and I quite like them. I might watch them and then get very drunk. So presumably your mate is also going to be doing the driving? In that case you may as well go along - it's no skin off your nose, it's an excuse to get drunk (as if you need one!) and you like the support act. All for free, and with minimum effort!

slart (07/11/2006) so I think that proves my finger isn't on the mainstream pulse!
Would you want it to be?
Not really. Went to Slayer on Sunday. They were playing in the same venue as Snow Patrol. The place was packed so there is hope yet!
Did you get to see them in Manchester?
Sorry for going off topic, but it's only a Snow Patrol thread so it doesn't really matter anyway. How were Muse??
Muse were Godlike. When the curtain came back it was Close Encounters of the Third Kind. It was very over the top, overblown and one the best concerts I have seen in years. And they had giant balloons filled with pink confetti. They have also sneaked an extra musician and hidden him at the back. They played for 90 minutes, did loads of new stuff and the best of the old stuff - no messing around. Get to see them if you can.
The first time I saw them was on a wet Tuesday night in a support slot in Temple Bar Music Centre. Elastica were headlining. TBMC is a tiny venue and about 100 people were there for Muse. Needless to say, I didn't go to the bar.

I expect he'll drive - besides I'm more relaxed at the wheel after few pints. He works for BMW and gets two brand new cars every six months so he likes to show off his latest motor. Suits me but I guess I'd better not puke or piss the seats on the way home.

Either their new stuff really needs the extra musician or they have decided that it is far too much hassle to keep switching instruments since I saw them a couple of years ago. I'd really like to see them again where they are the main act rather than a festival - I can't really be bothered to go to many concerts these days, but that is one band for which I would make an exception!

I think the extra musician had more to do with letting Matt run around the stage and act like a Guitar God. He still plays piano quite a bit but isn't trapped behind banks of keyboards like he was on the last tour.
As an elderly prog rocker weaned on Rush and Pink Floyd, I think they are I think they are the best live band touring today.
