You should never disrespect anyone's taste in music however much you may disagree with what they are in to.

I have bought many the album that later I would be highly embarrassed to own up to but at the time I liked whoever it was and that was that.

Music can be complex but not necessarily good.

Simple but brilliant.

Serious or trivial.

Too dismiss anything or anyone as "rubbish" is to miss the point. If someone out there likes it enough to buy it it therefore has merit. Not your cup of tea? That's fine but don't pass judgement as no-one has the right to do that.

Well not since John Peel died anyway.

Bullshit, Cloudy. That's the whole point.

Sheesh.

What i mean, the bit about you could pick people out who are NMEers, is that a pattern emerges where most of the artists they like are also flavours of the NME.  Everyone knows what i mean.  Maybe i'm being harsh.

And keep Mrs. Honeyman right out of sight,
'Cos there's gonna be riot down in Trumpton Tonight.

Definite sign of middle age when you start slagging off the NME.

I haven't liked it for about 10 years btw.

Same here, last time I bought it was about 15 years ago.

Anyway, we all know that the Oldham Chronicle is the publication of choice for reviews and exposing the brightest young talent.

Did you read the write up?  pretty damn good.

Or maybe those people buy NME because they like the bands they cover? That would seem more likely to me to be honest.

This bullshit about being spoonfed though, or liking what you're told to like, is ridiculous. You can't be told that you like music, how you can make an assumption that a person can't make their own mind up is beyond me.

Bassman - when you're bored, try and think of something new to slag off. At least then we might get some new debate.

Okay, The View.  2 good songs, the rest very average.  Are The View actually the modern day Northside, but without the songs.  In fact, that's very harsh on Northside, because Northside did have some good songs.

The View, like Arctic Monkeys, only not as good.

I know, it was a little harsh - i like Northside myself.  My Rising Star, Moody Places = tuneage.

Okay then, The View like Menswear, but not as good.

Oh yes, The Feeling are proper tripe.  Awful, awful 70's style REO Speedwagon soft rock rubbish.  They should all be shot.  And Orson as well.  I hate them with real passion.

The Enemy, they are another one.  Why don't they just called these bands Arctic Monkeys#2, Arctic Monkeys#3 etc, etc, etc.
