| | So what do we think of Maggies 8 match ban?? I fully understand that the ban is deserved, but the fact that the FA 'circumnavigated' it's own rules to do it, somewhat pisses me off. Will they go back and now chuck the book at Mr Essien?? I doubt it. As for Dabo, I hope the FA see sense and rescind the red to a yellow. It wasn't a sending off offence, and surely City's stand on player discipline will help our case? Bugger me!! Is this the first footy thread on here??

| | We all knew Thatcher was going to be the subject of a witch hunt. A 15 game suspendsed sentence for two years for god's sake?! As for Dabo, that has to be rescinded. His eyes neve rleft the ball and both players had their arms out as much as each other. However, if it gets Didi in the team then maybe it's no bad thing?

| I agree with that, ESM. Clearly Thatcher deserved to be punished, but so have other players in the past. The rule saying that the FA can't take action if the ref has 'seen' the incident is absolutely riduculous, but that is the rule. Either that rule should be changed or it should be adhered to. No middle ground of the FA interfering as and when they feel like it but hiding behind the excuse of being powerless to act in other cases. It'll be interesting to see what happens next time a similar incident occurs, especially if it is perpetrated by a player from one of the 'big four'.

| How does Thatcher's ban work? Is it 8 games on top of the six that City gave him or is it concurrent, meaning he'll only have to serve an extra two?

| It's backdated, so the games he has already sat out count towards it. It's actually another 4 games on top of the club ban, as two of the six that City dished out were suspended.

| Buffbill (13/09/2006) How does Thatcher's ban work? Is it 8 games on top of the six that City gave him or is it concurrent, meaning he'll only have to serve an extra two? It's 8 games including the 2 games he's already be suspended, therefore he's got 6 left to serve.

| As for Dabo, definately did not deserve a red, but...is it just me or does he look like he is going to rack up a pile of yellows?

| Dabo's ban will probably not be rescinded, because it is almost identical to the one Shrek did in the rags friendly against Porto when the FA banned him for 3 games.

| I don't mind either player being banned at least it means Hamann will play and it keeps Thatcher from cocking up the defence.

| | I thought that Dabo looked so off the pace on Monday night, Hamman is a must for me with Joey who faded against Reading because he was knackered after doing all of Dabo's running for him. Only consolation is we looked good in when we had the ball and Blackburn are hardly ripping up any trees at the mo.
