A part of me wants England to lose on Wednesday.

I know exactly what you mean, Cloudy. Then I think of a long summer without England at the finals and I know I want us to win.

If we do qualify what will we do in the competition though?. The same noises will come out of the england camp, we can win it this time etc, It will be the same old story, one or two wins in the group, then knocked out in the QF if we are lucky, hardly worth looking forward to is it

A desperately dull 0-0 where we show no creativity and are totally lucky to even get a point will do me.  It might just be enough for him to get the boot.

Can't see it myself, they'll just roll out the same old rhetoric like "A workman like display...", "Did what we needed to do.." "With all the injuries it was a good result.." etc etc.

Unless we get beat, I can't see the FA looking for another manager until after a disastrous Euro 2008.

I hope he plays Beckham at some stage in the game on Weds.  That'll be his 99th cap.  And then McLaren should drop him.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

If McClown plays Beckham on Wednesday and we lose, two for the price of one.

I certainly won't be hiding on Wednesday night.

Avoid, rather than check. Check, rather than hurt. Hurt, rather than maim. Maim, rather than kill. For all life is precious, nor can any be replaced.

England fans back coach McClaren
Full survey results on Monday's Inside Sport, BBC One 2320 GMT.

Fans have backed Steve McClaren to stay on as England coach and blamed the players for recent poor performances in a survey for the BBC's Inside Sport.

A total of 452 fans were questioned by telephone in England between Friday and Sunday, before, during and after Israel's Euro 2008 win over Russia.

And the results show that 50% think McClaren should stay on as manager regardless of whether England qualify.

Well, I'm not sure who they rang but I'm guessing most of them had trouble knowing what end of the phone to talk in to.

I'm not big on numbers and pecentages and all that but if 50% say he should stay on does that not mean 50% wanted him to go???So really their none the wiser as it was split so how do they come to the conclusion that the fans want him to stay on. I also love the fact that Steve has said were playing to win on Wednesday, I'd like to think we always play to win.

452 people.  That's such an in-depth survey. Sooooooo representative of 60 million people that live in the UK.........

best letter on 365 today:

Good grief. There's smug, and then there's smug, burns-victim-McClaren-style.

"I have believed from the beginning of the tournament that we would need a result from the Croatia game to go through," he said over the weekend.

Well Steve, I have believed from the beginning of this tournament that you are a feckless, boring, g**ger fucking b***ard.

So at least we're both right.

Couldn't have put it better myself.

So it's looking more and more likely that it'll be a 4-5-1, Crouch up front on his own, Berkham on the right of midfield.

I'd clear your desk draw at Soho Square today if is were you Steve. Save on the awkward looks etc on Thursday.
