For a local version of Old Crow, you should check out Dr Butler's Hatstand Medicine Band.  Saw them last thurs at Fuel in Withington.  A lot of fun.

Bastard's recommendation for up and coming:   The Midnight Juggernauts.  I cannot tell you how much I love this album.  Australian synth rock at its, erm, best.
