From the OS...

Stuart Pearce has this morning held his weekly pre-match press conference and spoken about how everyone at the Club is pulling together following last Saturday’s dismal defeat against Wigan.

The Manager told the assembled media ahead of Monday's game against Middlesbrough: “Everything in this game is a learning curve. I’ve said from day one and that still applies to me now.

“I was very, very pleased with the players’ attitude coming in on Tuesday. I’ve been around a lot of clubs that have suffered defeats and one or two players want to throw in little injuries here and there, I’ve not seen that here this week, all I’ve seen is six players come out of the treatment room and want to be available for Monday night – so that’s encouraging for me.

“We’re aware of our jobs on a daily and weekly basis and that never changes, no matter what’s being said in the outside world. I’m more critical than probably anyone outside of our football club.

“If you suffer a heavy defeat, no one is ever happy with that, the supporters, the players, the Chairman, anyone.

“The one thing you can guarantee is that everyone at this football club is in the same boat and everyone wants the to achieve the same things.

“Everyone is pulling in the same direction. Everyone wants the same thing.”

Keeper of the heretic's fork of doom.

Yes but he isn't gonna say that the attitude has been shite and all the players are lazy gits who don't care for the shirt etc....

Words are just noises in the wind, need to show us on Monday night.

Actually, you know what I reckon? We're simply just not good enough.

I'm serious. As a squad of players iwe are just not up to Premiership Standards and no amount of motivation, training, coaching, tough talking, sweet talking, bonuses or fines will change that.

We may avoid relegation but it will be by the skin of our teeth if we do.

We are still better than three other teams though, surely?

I hope we are because relegation = almost certain financial meltdown.

As City fans we all know the danger of sthinking "we're too good to go down" though.

you'd think we are better than Sheff and Watford - at home if nothing else  - if charlton or west ham have a turn in fortunes then we could be in trouble

West Ham almost certainly will eventually which leaves us with Charlton.

So, 4th from bottom could be the sum of this season's ambition then?

Great!

I think there are a lot of teams that are in false positions at the moment, hopefully we will have got all our injuries out of the way for this season.

Teams who are doing better than they expected will suffer dips in form, Fulham, Portsmouth, Blackburn, Reading. We need to pick up and we have a good run of home games to build some confidence.

Not panicking yet but the run up to Christmas is vital and if we are not in top 10 at Christmas then who knows what will happen.
