The Answer are great. I saw them supporting Ash(!) in a small venue a few years back. I normally hate support acts but these were really good. If there is any justice they'll be playing big halls soon.
They're top.
you know, you know, if a feller named Monroe never fathered bluegrass he would still be unrecognised as the grand wizard of speed metal

slart (26/10/2006) I love all that Deep Purple, Rainbow, Whitesnake, Gillan stuff. The albums still stand up well and those that are still touring are putting on great shows. Not sure about Blackmore's Night though.
Loved Rainbow, my dad still listens to some of my old albums, Richie Blackmore may have been a wanker but he was am axe god.
As for Deep Puple, when they got back together in the mid 80's, the first album they released was a fucking classic.
I first got Rainbow Rising 26 years ago and i still listen to it today. Great songs and great playing. And it is only 33 minutes long. Something modern bands should consider before putting out 73 minute long cds.

Why modern bands feel the need to cram 4 or 5 singles and 7 or 8 'fillers' onto a CD is madness, save on the studio/production time and make more bloody money and better music to boot. There are very few 'modern' albums that I can sit and listen through from beginning to end without skipping the odd track or 3, in fact I think that Slilent Alarm by Bloc Party is the only one I can in recent years.

| Exactly. Deluded people say 'But a 30 min CD isn't value for money.' Well if all the tracks are top then it's better value for money than a 70 mn CD where 2/3 of the tracks are shite.

| These days bands are contractually obliged to provide cds of a certain length. That is why when the album finishes you sometimes get 5 minutes of silence followed by a 'hidden' track.
Why bother?

Why bother? Is that the case?? I didn't realise. Kasabians first album has a hidden track at the end, just a bit of a rehash of the 3rd track. Still good though.

| | The best hidden tracks are on The Adverts 'Crossing the red sea with...'. The hidden tracks are at the begginning of the cd. From stopped, you press the rewind button, then play. They are on before the album. |

| It is widely recognised that Yoko Ono was responsible for the break up of the Beatles and if you listen very carefully to Dear Prudence from the White Album you can just about make out her voice in the background shouting "Sprit up you Beatles, sprit up!"
Avoid, rather than check. Check, rather than hurt. Hurt, rather than maim. Maim, rather than kill. For all life is precious, nor can any be replaced. |
