...the free DVD from this months Classic Rock magazine. Cheered me up no end. Alice Cooper, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Whitesnake, Dio, the 'Nuge, New York Dolls, Opeth, all good. Plus it's introduced me to a top new-ish Irish band, The Answer. Might purchase their album tomorrow.

Rock on kiddywinks.

he would still be unrecognised as the grand wizard of speed metal

Whitesnake was the first proper gig I went too. It was at the Queens hall in Leeds, I was about 12 or 13.

Upto a point, they went a bit off the rails towards the end.

I remember the gig vividly, the roadies allowed us onto one of the lighting gantries as we were only kids.

Used to be really into bands like Whitesnake, Deep Purple, Rainbow, Dio etc.

Early teens, sort of moved into more indie stuff when the likes of The Smiths etc broke through. Still smile if I hear any of their stuff on the radio.

I love all that Deep Purple, Rainbow, Whitesnake, Gillan stuff. The albums still stand up well and those that are still touring are putting on great shows. Not sure about Blackmore's Night though.

Loved Rainbow, my dad still listens to some of my old albums, Richie Blackmore may have been a wanker but he was am axe god.

As for Deep Puple, when they got back together in the mid 80's, the first album they released was a fucking classic.

The Answer are great. I saw them supporting Ash(!) in a small venue a few years back. I normally hate support acts but these were really good. If there is any justice they'll be playing big halls soon.
