Is this really the best we can do?

Why play somebody out of position? A centre half can't play full back unless you are Micah!. They should play Shorey. Or call Ned up from the U21's.

To be fair to Lescott, he has played at left back quite a lot, and has had a good start to the season.  This selection brings up the old 'form vs class' argument again - is it better to have a lesser name given a chance when he is on top form, or a tried-and-tested established name (Phil Neville?  No ta!) who's not playing so well or is past his best?  The left hand side has long been a problem for England, and our lack of strength in depth if the first choices are out is all too clear.

I'd love to see Bally get a chance, but he hasn't been playing enough to get a look in.  We all know that the 'picked even when not playing regularly' rule only applies to players from the so-called Big Four.

I don't want to be "fair" to him though Labmonkey.

I was watching the Estonia game and just kept thinking "WTF is going on with his hair?"
