Midfield players that I rate more than Lardpard:

Elano - Different type of player

Gerrard - Different type of player

Cahill - Different type of player

Hargreaves - Different type of player

Barry - Different type of player

Bentley - Different type of player

It's not about scoring goals, it's acknowledging that he only gets the opportunity to do so because of the hardwork put in by his teammates.  For him to then not recognise this and only complain about how he didn't score is fucking disgraceful.

That list is shit TID.   Its like saying you prefer Peter Schmeichel to Paul Lake.

It's down to formation IMO.

Chelsea play 4-5-1

City play 4-5-1

England play 4-4-2

That's why City and Chelsea can accommodate players like Elano and Lampard together, England can't.

No, because that would be comparing goalkeepers with midfielders wouldn't it?  What is Frank Lampard if he 's not a midfielder, like those listed above?  He must have some uniqueness that the rest of us have missed Bastard.  Care to share?

All you've stated so far is that you think he's the best midfielder ever, with little evidence backing you up other than 'well, he scores a few goals'.

I tell thee what ESM.  If chunky can't adapt his style for England and continues to be a huge fucking waste of space wearing the three lions then he can fuck off.  I've never seen him get Man of the Match for England.  FACT.

So?

I don't fucking care if he plays well for England, seems that the Gerrard/Lampard penny has finally dropped with McClown anyway, much good it did mind.

He's still the best at what he does, but he isn't an Elano and shouldn't be compared. I'd have him at City.

So, you'd play him and Elano?

You know, it's clear to me that anyone who rates Frank 'because he score goals' lacks insight and hasn't really thought out what contibution it is he really should be making to the team. Assembling a football team isn't quite so simple as picking or buying the best goalscoring 11 for their respective positions. I'd expect a child to make that assumption. You play Frank and Elano together (which I assume you are eluding to by your last statement) and you give yourself a similar - but not identical - problem to what you have with England. You certainly can't get the best out of both, and most likely will end up getting the best out of neither. Thus they should be compared, just as Gerrard and Lampard are compared, because there really is only room for one. Now, who would you choose?

Why not in the right formation? As I said to Bastard, Lampard plays along side Essien, Cole and SwP, all three attacking midfielders.

SWP is a winger. Cole is a converted winger (who, IMO, would be more effective in the centre) and Essien is more of an all rounder than a dedicated attacking midfield player. We have the same at City in Elano (Lampard), Petrov (SWP), Ireland (Cole) and Johnson (Essien). If, as I assume, you are suggesting we play Elano on the wing to accomodate Fatty, then you lose most of what Elano brings. Again, Elano or Lampard? Think carefully, because your answer will say a lot about you as a person.

I think you could play both in the centre midfield BU, but you would need a more mobile sweeper or holding midfielder than Hamann. As I said before, IMO Elano and Lampard bring different attributes to the party. Elano has the tricks, the range of passing etc, Lampard has the drive and positional awareness to pick up the loose ball and drive it home.

Ok, fair enough. We'll have to agree to disagree. I personally think even with a more effective/mobile holding midfielder playing both would leave you horribly exposed. I think City and Chelsea both have a similar balance to their sides as I've said before. Essien is no Elano, and Johnson is no Lampard. Both Essien and Johnson do a more all round midfield job than either Lampard or Elano.

Anyway, still doesn't mean you and Bastard can't answer the question. Given the choice of the two, who would you rather have?

You're talking out of your jacksie BU.  You could quite easily play both.

Of course you can, just as England can play Gerrard and Lampard together.

Show me the post where I said that TID.

Gauntlet thrown down......

Unique qualities?  You really want me to point out how his game differs from Bentley, Barry, Cahill et al?

Tbf Bastard, the only difference between Cahill/Gerrard and Lampard is that the former two do their fair share of other stuff aswell as score goals.
