I'll keep it brief...should we have video technology in football matches? Personally i don't think we should, but i definately see the argument for it.

IMO i think human error is all part of the game, referees make mistakes...as does everybody else at work.

As for divers, i think retrospective punishment is the only answer. Obviously i don't fully understand the process The FA have to go through but hypothetically if they were to say....

" as from midnight tonight we will use video evidence and anybody found guilty of diving will be banned for a year, no matter what the circumstance, or whether they were succesful or not in conning the referee"

.......i'm telling you now it would erase it immediatly. Es pecially if they actually did it, if somebody did still risk it then they enforced the punishment. Or if they docked a club 10 points. It would just stop straight away, i don't understand why they don't do anything. Like Zakora for Tottenham, cheated. No matter how careful the papers have to be in how they say it...he cheated. And what do they do...what CAN they do, nothing.

Anyway, i've gone off on a tangent there but you have a couple of talking points.

That's what prompted me to make the post! It's hard to disagree when you see something like that, but i am still against it.

The biggest difference a penalty has made to a season was IMO,I think two years ago at the swamp.Shrek went down and Arse's season was over as far as the Title was concerned.I think it also ended their unbeaten run??Shrek cheated, you couldn't blame the ref because he was conned.

Video evidence was the only way to tell, but as you say some ban imposed after the game,by the authority's may work if it was punitive enough.

Another way to go could be to ask the player going down if contact was made at the time.If he said yes and was later proved to be lying again a ban could be imposed.

The only problem with either option is it still doesn't help the opposition team at the time.

Would it drive diving out of the game???? Depends on the sentence for the crime I suppose.

Agreed, would have to be a huge punishment, like i say i think a year would suffice.

Agreed with the Shrek dive also, i was thinking about that dive today when i read that he said he would never dive.
