Samaras was slated in one of the reports i read today. I've not seen anything though so i am in no position to offer a fair comment

he didnt have a great 1st 1/2 but i dnt think u can expect a lone striker to have a good game, the formation they strted out with didnt make any sence to me but pearce obviously had his reasons. he played better once corradi came on, was so unluky not to score.

I really rate Sam. I reckon he's got plenty of goals in him. Any striker that gets 15+ goals in the prem is considered a great success. Samaras could get that many as long as he has the support. City look a better team with Corradi. Corradi is an intelligent player with good vision. We've been missing that for a while. I am, as ever, the internal optimist.

Samaras is a very gifted player. He has a good touch and is genuinely two-footed, with an eye for goal. He needs to start regularly and needs to feel that the manager and the fans are on his side.

I think he has a much better rapport with his team mates than he did at the start. Last season I felt he looked like Anelka in the sense that he seemd moody and aloof.

We are all in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars

Disagree with the anelka comment completly...thought Samaras became a team player straight away...but i do agree he is quality

Some teams can play really well with a 4-5-1 set up but City don't have any real attack minded midfield players, so when we play 1 up front he doesn't get the support of the midfield that is required to make goal threats.  At times I think we actually played a 4-1-4-1 with Hamman just ahead of the central defence.

If a midfielder is naturally attacking his first thought will be to run into space - but our guys tend to old the ball up and play it out wide - which isn't a great service for a single forward.  What it does do is create a bit of a sloppy midfield with lost of headers won, but the ball gong nowhere and a not too creative attacking game.

This weekends tactics held Everton to 1 goal (lapse in concentration (we should have had Johnson marked out of the game)) then when we went to 2 up front it payed off as Corradi got the knock on for the goal.

SP got it right, but only just and maybe lady luck helped a little too.

C.T.I.D. (then some)

Always find it interesting that when Arse play 5 in MF they are tactically placed, according to the media.Yet when we do the same we are charged with 'packing the midfield'.Strange that??

That's a very incisive analysis. Would you mind passing it along to SP? When you do you might remind him that forum members have been asking for a playmaking midfielder for some time.
