Front page of a paper yesterday (cant remember which one) said Gordon Brown will wait until he is PM to announce that the Olympics will cost... 10 billion pounds.
Interesting point raised by, oh I can't remember now, a while ago - why do countries go in for the olympics at all? There's no way they make there money back on the investment they've outlayed to secure and then host the Olympics, raising the city's profile and thus tourism can't be a great incentive as the majority of hosting cities are already very well known and very well visited, is it purely and simply to raise the profile of sport amongst the younger generations?

| I went in 69 and in 81 i watched 55 and 56 on TV so I suppose I will have to make an effort to go to this If we get there. Makes my birthday present easy for the lady wife to get .
