Good points PB and the terracing thing (although personally I would choose to sit myself now) is symptomatic of the nanny state we live in. I'm sure standing could be done safely with the right stewarding. The Tories can piss off though if they think they're kidding anyone with their "we'll re-examine the issue" bollox. The truth is that football reflects society's current values of greed and conspicuous wealth and is the poorer for it. Who's to blame? Fuck knows, maybe we are for continuing to put our hands in our pockets instead of saying "Thirty five quid for a bri-nylon shirt? I'd sooner put my head in a blender!" That's it, right there. It's us. It's us who just can't give it up. Those of us around the country that love our clubs too much to let go, that can't bear to not be there when the whistle blows. Those of us that feel we would be being disloyal if we stopped attending without "good reason". It's not our fault that the businesses take advantage of us. But if everyone had the will power to say "no" and stick 2 fingers up at those who take the piss, it would have to change. I complain about it...all the time. I'll still buy the 2 new shirts this summer. I'll go to away games again nexy year. I'll still watch Sky. I'll have a prem plus season ticket even though there will be about 2 games i watch all season (which will be City away games they show). So i am a hypocrite. I don't deny it. But it some way, we have to take a share of the responsibility because we just don't have the willpower/don't want to say no.
