So Liverpool were the only club at which he felt at home, and he would never have left them had they signed him.  But he'd love to play for Arsenal again.  No doubt he's been misquoted....

Nicolas Anelka says a return to former club Arsenal would be 'great'.

The Bolton striker first made his mark at Highbury after Arsene Wenger signed him from Paris St-Germain in 1997.

Speaking to French TV show Telefoot, Anelka said;

"Coming back to Arsenal would by great.

"They are a great club who are solid and serious. Arsene Wenger is one of the best coaches in the world, and I can't hide that the club marked my life forever.

"I have spent some great moments there."

Anelka was one of the first to benefit from Wenger's policy of signing young players from the continent on the cheap, in his case for just £500,000.

He was then sold on to Real Madrid for over £23 million in 1999, before returning to PSG and going on to play for Liverpool, Manchester City and Fenerbache before joining Bolton for £8 million in 2006.
