so, we're over half way through the season, starting to pick up a bit of form and we are three points away from 7th. 11 away from relegation.

In my opinion this is better than i thought we could hope for. At the beginning of the season i remember being terrified of being whipping boys. Looking at the table (and if we get a win tomorrow we have s'hampton next round) i'm really pleased. We have been unlucky with a few injuries and a squad that has no real pace or creativity.

So, if the season were to end today would you be happy? And how does it compare to your pre season hopes?

I'd be happy enough.  Of course there would always be the natural curiosity of where we could have ended up had the season continued, with us being so close to 7th, but the realistic view would be that 10th is a fairly accurate position for a team that is being built very slowly due to lack of funds.  It also fits in with my pre-season expectations, where I thought that anywhere between 8th and 12th would be reasonable.

I agree. 12th is my expectation, anything above is a bonus.

No, i paid £450 for a full season* so i want my money's worth.

*lie, my mum and dad paid half of it, so i suppose i only deserve half a season. On that basis, i'd be happy enough

In all honesty, we've now got a similar amount of points as I thought we would across the whole season. After the first two games, I did my prediction, and in a desperate strop, predicted us to get 33 points across the season. I think it's amazing how fickle I am. Right now, I expect us to finish somewhere near second. The thing is, I could realistically see the squad we have finishing in the top eight, because we've got some great players - Weaver, Isaksson, Richards, Dunne, Distin, Onouha, Trabelsi, Barton, Beasley, Dabo, Samaras, Vassell - but, it being City, you know we'll throw it all away at the end, and I'd probably take 10th, knowing that.

It's practically Christmas today!
