| I have a certain amount of sympathy for them. After all, if it was one of the top Premiership teams, you can guarantee any punishment wouldn't be anywhere near as severe. On the other hand, though, apparently it is the second time they have done this, so maybe it is the only way they will learn. Once is a careless mistake, but twice defies belief...CHRIS CASPER last night vowed to fight the FA all the way after his Bury side became the first club in history to be thrown out of the FA Cup. Cash-strapped Bury were hit with the unprecedented punishment after fielding an ineligible player in their second-round replay win over Chester earlier this month. Midfielder Stephen Turnbull, on loan from Hartlepool, was not registered to play in the tie and an FA Cup subcommittee yesterday hit Bury with the ultimate penalty. Bury, who have struggled to stay in business in recent seasons, have had to hand their £24,000 prize money over to Chester, now reinstated in the competition. It is Chester, not Bury, who now look forward to a lucrative third-round tie with Ipswich. But Bury boss Casper, a former Manchester United player, is confident of overturning the decision. He said: "It was a genuine error. As soon as we discovered what had happened we informed the appropriate people. "But we can appeal and we are still hopeful we'll be in the third round."
