| | Aston Villa, Newcastle and Middlesbrough are ready to tempt Manchester City with a £5.5m bid for Joey Barton. (Daily Mail) Looks to me like someone just filling column inches, but £5.5m?? are they pissed??

| | Has he got a clause in his contract that allows him to speak to clubs if they bid over a certain amount? Maybe thats why its £5.5m. Don't think we can afford to sell him though, he's been our best player this season and we'll be a lot worse off without him.

| He's rapidly become the most important player in the squad. I doubt he'd sign a 4 year contract extension if he thought those three huge European giants were going to bid for him. Oh, you said Villa, Boro and Newcastle didn't you.....

| There was definitely a sell-on clause in his new contract. I'm hoping that the fact we have recently seen a much more mature Joey Barton and that he is being talked about as a possible for the England squad, will mean he will decide he doesn't want to move on for the sake of it. Of course there are some teams where the temptation would be understandable, but those three mentioned?? I hope not...

| On the verge of greatness? Let's not get carried away! He's a good player, we shouldn't sell him, but he still can't pass a ball more than 30 yards!

| | So he's on the verge of goodness then is he? I'm not sure if that's a characterisation that Joey would be comfortable with. |

| Once he sorts out his lapses in concentration that see him cock up 10 yard passes he'll be ok
