| I am sorry but I think being a club manager is completely different from being the manager of Brazil's national squad as I am sure you will agree.
And what has he won as a club manager?

And what has he won as a club manager?Club Management record is decent but only in South America however he won the Copa Libatadores twice which is the South Amreican Champions League equivalent. And a couple of Championships with Gremio and Palmeiras. His club record is not as good as Sven's however.

And what has he won as a club manager?Scolari had an auspicious career coaching Brazilian clubs. His first big title was the Brazilian Cup, in 1991, coaching the small Criciúma, from Santa Catarina. In 1994, Scolari joined one of the biggest teams in South America, Grêmio, for whom he also played in the 1970s. During his time at the club, Grêmio enjoyed a significant degree of success winning the Brazilian Cup, in 1994; the Libertadores Cup, in 1995; the Recopa Sudamericana, also in 1995 and the Brazilian Championship in 1996. Grêmio were defeated in the 1995 Toyota Cup final after a penalty shootout with Ajax. During the late 1990s he also coached other South American giant, Palmeiras. Here he won the Brazilian Cup, the Mercosur Cup and the Copa Libertadores once more but was defeated again in the Intercontinental Cup, this time his team suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United. So pretty much everything he possibly could then.

| O.K. so maybe he is qulaified. Why would he want to jump into a gig like this though. It would only make sense if Frank has already done a deal with him. In which case, it would mean that Sven would have gotten the bounce even if we qualfied for Europe. A replacement like Scolari is what would be required to give this move the gloss of rationality though. If there is nobody lined up ... well that would speak volumes. I wouldn't rule that out either, Frank may be one of those guys to simply thinks he can buy whatever and whomever he wants, when he wants. A high risk strategy for football success me thinks. |
