| Got tickets to see Grindhouse on Saturday. This is the double bill of Tarantino's Death Proof and Robert Rodriguez's Planet Terror. This film was split in half for Europe because the Americans were too stupid to grasp the concept of a double-bill feature.

Haven't seen PLanet Terror but the full length version of Death Proof is superb. I really want to see the whole Grindhouse feature too. Should be seen as one really. I remember the old double bills at the cinema although that was usually one short shitty movie before the main feature.

Death Proof is great. Not really the trashy film I expected. The first half is more like a John Cassevetes film than a B-Movie. Quentin Tarantino was in Dublin for the release of Death Proof. He did a book signing and was very apologetic about the release of Grindhouse. The best double-bill I ever saw was Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Blazing Saddles at my local flea-pit.

I once went to an all-night Horror show somewhere in North West London. Basket Case and Basket Case 2 along with a bunch of others. I was very stoned and fell asleep half way through the second movie. Think there were 5 in total.

When I was about 16 there was an event at the venue of venues "Romiley Forum" where they had about 4 metal bands playing interpersed with a showing of "A Nightmare on Elm Street" I remember that the headline act was a local band called Scarlet Pussey. Not a bad night for a 16 year old and got mightily pissed.
I gave Elano my Porsche and now I want it back! |
