| | Manchester City Football Club is sad to hear that former Vice-Chairman and board member Freddie Pye has passed away aged 80. A colourful character known throughout the north-west’s football community, Freddie was Vice-Chairman from 1988 to 1993, having first joined the board as a Vice-President in 1982. Prior to that, he brought great success to Altrincham during the 1960s when the Robins established themselves as one of the leading lights in non-league football. City’s General Secretary Bernard Halford paid tribute to Freddie, saying: “Freddie was a fabulous guy, a top character and a real football man. He gave great service, not just to this club but to football throughout the Manchester area and he will be sadly missed by a lot of people.” |
