We won with a hat-trick from Robbie Keane and a dire 90th minute miss from Dunnie (he blasted over the bar in the 6 yard box). Very boring second half.

Anyway, that was the last football match in Lansdowne for now. Next home game will be in the 75,000 seater Croke Park. The only time I've gone there in recent years is for U2 concerts.

This will be the first time soccer has been played on a GAA ground (apart from the time me and me mates had a kick around on the local GAA pitch when we were kids).

One of the best misses I've seen in a while. In fairness the ball was travelling at speed and he was stretching. But still - he did hammer it over the bar in the six ward box!

Dunne had little to do for the game and spent more time pushing up than defending. It was an awful game. Should the likes of San Marino be made play in a pre-qualifying game?

Which Staduim do Ireland Rugby team play international matches at? Was this Lansdowne and will these also be played a Croke Park?

I gave Elano my Porsche and now I want it back!

Ah well, we can laugh when he does it for Ireland, especially when 5-0 up.  Unless you had a bet on 6-0 of course!

GAA are against foreign sports being played on their grounds. This goes back to the founding principles of the organisation of the sport - to promote Irish culture and sports.

This means soccer and rugby can't be played on their grounds. However, the Special Olympics held their opening ceremony at Croke Park, last week there was the International Rules game (a mix between gaelic football and Aussie rules - an excuse for a savage punch up) and I think a few years ago there was an American football game played there.

A new rule was brought in allowing UK/ British security force members join the GAA - this is following the Good Friday Agreement - and Croke Park is now allowed to be used by the IFRU (Rugby) and FAI (Soccer) while Lansdowne Road is being rebuilt.

The rules allowing GAA players participate in other sports is a lot more open these days. Niall Quinn was a noted Hurling player in his youth and Kevin Moran won an All Ireland medal for Dublin before he took up soccer. However Liam Brady says he was effectivley expelled from school for choosing to play for a youth Irish soccer team instead of the GAA team.

If you want to understand why the GAA have taken so long to allow foreign sports to be played on their grounds then have a dig throught the history books and websites and read about Bloody Sunday 1920 and other events.

I minded!!!!!!

Maybe Dunnie had a bet on 5-0. To be fair he looked a bit sheepish when he cleared it over the bar.
