bobthebodger (17/01/2008) Heres what you putESM Well, from what I've seen of him thus far, I have to say that he seems..............how can I put it..................shit.
Harsh?
Correct, but I said 'thus far'. I haven't seen anything yet that makes me think different, that's not to say he won't turn out to be a little star. Obviously the injury will set him back a bit, but do you think Sven would have kept selecting him. Harsh thing to say, but we didn't look an attacking threat until he went off and Rolando came on. The reason vassell and castillo looked shite was because of stupid long balls to them head high. Them two needed slick balls inbehind on the deck, elano was playing far too deep to do that in the first half, castillo ended up coming far too deep for balls and was hit hard everytime, the lad needed space to run into. You mean Vassell isn't ordinarily shite? Yeah he isnt my cup of tea but the team didnt play to there strenghs did they, he likes balls down the channels and in behind. He is one of them players where you think....is this guy a winger, yeah he has pace and dribbles well, but he cant cross. Is he a striker, yes he has pace skill etc but he needs many chances to score one!.. or sometimes he will put it in the onion bag with ease.. then the next game he cant hit a cows arse with a spade. Premiership quality? yeah for team trying to stay in the premiership, not a team who want europe. Verdict: sell him i say, not quite what we want because citys expectations are far too high now...weve moved up a level. But i wasnt happy how we couldnt play to his and castillos way of the samurai.

| Manchester City INJURY BLOW: Nery Castillo is stretchered off advertisement Sven backs Castillo to come goodChris Bailey 18/ 1/2008 NERY Castillo is still on track to make a big impact on the Premier League despite an injured shoulder. That is the view of Sven- Goran Eriksson despite the Mexican star's lack of impact in the two and a bit games he has played since arriving on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk. Castillo left the pitch on a stretcher in the first half of the midweek FA Cup win over West Ham when he dislocated his shoulder after falling awkwardly. Eriksson has had an upbeat report on the problem and a positive assessment of the skills of the 23-year-old who paid some of his own way to come on loan to Eastlands. "Nery is in pain and the shoulder was dislocated but was put back in place. The doctor thought it was not that bad. We will have to see what the scans say," said the concerned manager. Doubts "Nery is settling in well. He is a good young footballer, there are no doubts about that. People have to remember that he has come in halfway through a season having not played much at all for Shakhtar. "It is not easy for him because English Premier League football is so different. He has less time on the ball than he is used to and you can see that sometimes. "That is where he loses out but he has to taste the competition to get better and he will do I am sure. "He is still young and we have him on loan until halfway through next season and we will see him improve. "I know he is happy to be here and speaks Portuguese so he can speak to three or four players. "I feel he can play as a striker if you play with two or second striker if we play with one. "I am sure he can play wide right and wide left but Martin Petrov has not said he wants to step aside and the way he is playing I have no intention of pushing him aside!"

| Update:
I've just got a city text alert through stating that Castillo's going to be out for around 5 to six weeks after breaking a small bone in his shoulder....
Fuck, that's all we need...

| Lets be patient... Judging him this soon is a bit harsh, most players need a 'settling in' period. shame about the injury, but Sven said on the OS that we have him till next Jan so he has plenty of time! Cant wait to see Bojinov back with him, with a fully fit team we should have a strikeforce bigger than most in the Prem!

Cooder (17/01/2008) So the big buy out with mega dosh to spend was £40 mil???
£5.8mil plus the £25 mil TV revenue, puts us at a 10 million investment, plus whatever it costs for Sven...
That's pretty shit.Patience coods. fuck off. I want money spent. I didn't pay £30 odd quid to go that middlesbrough game just so thieving Frank can have all my money. Thank goodness there's still someone with some perspective at a time like this. |

| I'm just gonna go ahead and skip half of the replies here. This all seems too familiar. Typical thinking over there in England it seems. The guy was hardly fit when he joined City, had only played a handful of games for Shaktar, if even that. If any of you play any sports, you'll know that if you go from 0 fitness into a full fight/match, then you're bound to risk an injury.
Cheers,
