Chris Bailey in last night's Evening News wrote an article that I think is a bit critical of Thaksin Shinawatra. See what you reckon, but I certainly don't agree with it. Actually, I don't think it's too critical. I disagree with the statement that Sven doesn't know how much money he has to spend, I'm sure he know's exactly how much is available to him. Other than that I do think he makes a few good points.

| I get the impression that the sub-text is "Where's the money, Shinawatra?" I'm more than happy with the way things have been done, I don't expect European qualification this year and I'm surprised that a respected journalist appears to be showing such a lack of patience.

True, but I think it's foolish when a club publically says "We have £X million to spend" as the selling club will hike up the price. I think this happened to us over the summer when people knew we had a lot to spend and were quoting ridiculous prices for people. Perhaps Frank is just being a little more coy this window to try and keep prices down?

I'm more than happy with the way things have been done, I don't expect European qualification this year and I'm surprised that a respected journalist appears to be showing such a lack of patience. A local journalist who is supposedly supportive of the club should really be trying to dampen down over-enthusiastic expectations among the fans, not fuel them with slightly paranoid veiled accusations of the owner's motives. He mentions 'gullible fans' but if he is demanding that more money be thrown around simply as a statement of intent, then he is very much misguided. If the right players are available at the right price, I'm sure we'll be in for them, but even then there's no guarantee they'll come to us. It's a matter of patience and shrewdness in the notoriously difficult January transfer market. Overall, though, I don't think the article is too critical as such, just written in a way that will fuel the imaginations of two extreme subsets of fans - the delusional and the paranoid.

| I think it is just a case of city not leaking information all over the place like they used to so the papers are scrabbling around for news
